Status meeting #3

From Jesus   From our meeting on Saturday Mar5.     There was a knock on the door, Steve carefully looked out through the drawn curtains.  Once he recognized who it was, he signaled to Jesus to proceed with the complicated entry protocols they had previously established.  With this signal, Jesus asked the visitor "Quien es" which is code for "who is it".   The visitor was momentarily confused but recovered in time to say "Es Lupe"which decoded means "I think it's me".  Jesus quickly opened the door and pulled Isabel inside while his eyes nervously darted across the street and down the block to make sure she wasn't followed.   When he was satisfied that she wasn't followed, he  bolted the door and released the  guard dogs (Lola) to begin their watch for intruders.    Agreements from the meeting We concur that the nature of mom's problem is systemic and vascular.   Not enough nutrients to brain, ministrokes (evidenced by headaches) may be contributory.   Communication With Family:  downplay the symptoms... Start with - "yes she seems to be forgetting things."   Finally end with - "We are working with several Drs. to try to determine what may be happening."    Mom's side of the family needs to be kept posted.   Dad's side - downplay.   Communication with Friends and Acquaintances e.g. "How's your mother?"  DID NOT TALK ABOUT this. Our co-workers - we can tell them Medicines B12 Nasal spray is expensive $400 for 8 doses.   Isabel to administer.   Reason for the B12 is that it may improve metabolism Ceraxon - not FDA approved, Walgreens had no knowledge.   Reason for this med is unclear.  Increase metabolism or could enhance dopamine production but, based on what we have found out, it does not improve blood flow to brain as dr. suggested. Proceed with sleep study - O2 to brain.   Isabel to coordinate BP machine - High BP may contribute to strokes,  Idea is to monitor her BP and if it is high go to Dr for treatment.   Jesus to coordinate. Using baby aspirin we do not want to do, especially if she has microbleeds in brain. Funding Medical supplies and Dr. visits are for mom's account.  Steve to reimburse. For incidentals we purchase for her, keep a journal and if cost comes excessive, Steve will reimburse using mom's account. Living Steve and Jesus say she needs to move to have social interaction.  Is says no - she loves her house and is comfortable in it.  Can she have social interaction and still stay in her house?  Don't know. Terrace seems like a good choice.  It would be difficult to convince her to leave "cold turkey" but we may be able to split time between the Terrace and her home until she either becomes acclimated or definitely does not or can not stay at the Terrace. We need to begin formulating an approach to get her comfortable with the move.  Perhaps some testimonials from friends she has known e.g. Mrs. Debes.
