Meeting Minutes 2/12/11

From Steve (Amended 2/13/11 @ 1:00 pm)
  1. I'm going to talk to Mom to have her give me power of attorney and execute the appropriate forms (not a medical power of attorney).
  2. Medical issues will be decided by simple majority of 50% + 1, or 66.7%, whichever is greater on any particular issue. :-) The loser will just have to suck it up.
  3. We're not worried about the will.
  4. I'm going to let Dr. Roman's secretary know and pass on to him that, at this point, we don't want to tell her she has AD or FTD (assuming one of those is the diagnosis).
  5. I'm going to see if there's a way for us to meet surreptitiously with Dr. Roman's social worker so that we can get some ideas about resources, living places, care groups, etc.
  6. We're going to conduct our own individual homework about possible care and living arrangements and bring what we learn back to the group.
  7. We're not too concerned about her current ability to live on her own for now, but will monitor her until it becomes apparent that she may be at risk.
  8. We're going to try to use the blog more frequently, just so that we can be sure she's taken care of. That keeps us from either a) no one checking on her for three days straight, or b) all three of us feeding her dinner on the same day because she can't remember whether she ate or not. Please post frequently. Jesus so far has been the most diligent. He gets a gold star.
  9. We'll also try to use the blog to monitor her process using some kind of objective metrics.
  10. I'm going to email y'all the appointment info.
  11. Although we didn't talk about it at the meeting, we talked about it separately previously- we will try to make decisions about Mom's other health needs based on observation, not just her self-reported symptoms. The self-reporting is unreliable. (Amended 2/13/11 @ 1:00 pm)
If there's anything else let me know and I'll edit this post.
